MARKET NEWS #25 2023

Recently

Last week we had Marlborough Four Paws, selling promotional item for fundraising and signing up new volunteers to help rehome abused and unwanted animals.

What else is happening?

We have summer produce well on the way, with strawberries (Golden Mile, Dave's Produce and The Pot Shed), raspberries(J Arbuckle) and blueberries (Windsong) all available.

Nutt Ranch will make their monthly attendance, so get your hazelnut butters and nuts ready for christmas. I made a muesli slice this week using a mix of nuts and dried fruits, then bound together with hazelnut butter, honey (Garden Bees) and I put some chocolate in just to help it set, mix it together and set in fridge , a great no sugar slice (sort of).

Limrose will be back, stock up for those summer G&T's

We welcome a new stall Sweet Creations, the name really is the only description you need.

Longacre is having a day off as is Mama Lou's

We can also gift wrap individual bottles for free.

Golden Mile

Sunshine & growing go hand-in-hand. We are excited to have all our new seasons crops planted. But the big question is strawberries for Christmas? Fruit set is looking promising, the plants are looking happy & healthy, so we are praying to the sunshine gods for rays of light & warmth for a bountiful harvest for Christmas & New Years. A reminder that strawberries need to be treated like a bottle of milk, keep them chilled in a chilly bag with an icepack when transporting from purchase to home. Then bring them to room temperature just before eating. This means you will get that big strawberry perfume and full flavour.

There will be lots of other vegetables on offer this Sunday. If you are looking for last minute gift ideas, strawberry conserve or pickled onions are always popular.

Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday. Merry Christmas to all. Stephen & Sally

HOMEMADE.KIWI

We still have a few Christmas but not for long as the oven door is about to close!

Full range of dehydrated soups still available if you are going camping or tramping.

Have a Happy Christmas. Alys

SharpAs Tool Tip

With all the hedges growing, hedge trimmers are getting a good workout. Hedge trimmers come in many shapes. Pictured are the extension-type hedge trimmers. If you have these or any other outdoor equipment, woodworking tools, kitchen tools, knives, or anything else that needs rescuing or sharpening, come and see me at the market or contact me at 027 444 5535.

Cheers, Ron
