Farm Fresh Produce
It’s great to have Stephen’s Onions & Shallots back at the Marlborough Farmer’s Market. We’re looking forward to those one dollar slices of water and rock melon. He presently has a wonderful range of courgettes (green & yellow), cucumbers (apple, Lebanese & short green), and Kumi Kumi Marrow (which you cook in a similar manner to courgettes – delicious grated into a fritter or grilled on the BBQ). Shallots are also available (500g for just $4) and garlic at $5. Mr Pickled Onions ($12) come in three varieties: malt peppercorn with a hint of chili, little reds, and honey bay leaf. The Marlborough Garlic Sauce ($9, or two for $17) is available in the traditional style and hot ‘n’ spicy. And there’s more new products to arrive over the coming season.
Birchgrove, Clive & Sigrun, Field Fresh, Harwoods, Koromiko, Mississippi Herbs, Nutt Ranch, PInoli, Purple Patch, Riverina, Somerville Strawberries, Spudz n Greens, Traditional Country Preserves and Windsong Organics arrive weekly with a wonderful array of farm fresh eggs, produce, fruit and vegetables for your delectation.
Don’t miss our weekly Cooking Demonstration from 10.30am with local Chefs cooking their favourite recipes with Farmers’ Market seasonal produce. This week we look forward to HIghfield’s Chef Sally Lang and several recipes using this season’s tomatoes (available at various market stalls of course!).
