We’d like to start of with a few shoutouts to those in our midst:

Celebrating New Zealand Cheese month, we share with you the story of cheesemakers Simon and Hellene Lamb, featuring in a two-page spread in Kia Ora Magazine this month. Then tell us how they got started. Six years into the graft of cheese making, Cranky Goat has won a range of accolades, including several gold medals at the NZ Champions of Cheese Awards. We love Cranky Goat. Especially with a few strawberries, nuts and crackers. Golden Mile Produce, Hedgerows, Nutt Ranch, Snail House Bakery and the Community stall have you covered.

Congratulations go to Chris from Isobel Olives, who added a Silver medal to it’s stable for his Koroneiki olive oil.

Congrats to Boom’s Fran Nolan, who, in collaboration with Karaka Kitchen and Origin Lamb won the Marlborough Dish at Feast Marlborough, which included a host of local ingredients, including garnish from stall holder Natural Microgreens.

Congratulations to Devon Marshall for winning the wildcard category of the great Burleigh Pie Pairing Competition with his cordial. The future is looking bright for this young lad and his beverages. So, this Sunday why not take home a few of the winning bottles with you and have your own pie pairing attempt, perhaps including a Gourmet Deli pie in the mix.

You can now follow Devon and Golden Mile Produce on Facebook. Give them a like at:

A shout out also to Gourmet Deli, for entering the 12th year at the market. Can you believe it? Time flies.

A total of 41 stall holders will be getting up bright and early to bring you everything from bread, to fresh spuds and veggies, award winning olive oils, delectable cured meats and European sausages, free range pork and eggs, honey, nuts, fruit and dairy products, all in a friendly relaxed atmosphere at A&P park.

See you Sunday, rain or shine, from 9 til noon at A&P Showgrounds.

News from our producers

Snail House Bakery

I’ll be back with apple strudel made from Frut4U’s Stürmer apple made by my very capable Austrian husband. And of course the usual favourites like German style rye sourdough bread and the more French style sourdough country loaf, wheat free, adventure bread, superseeded multigrain, cinnamon snails, sour cherry pie, the world famous Chocolate Sacher Torte and Linzer Torte, an extra Portion of chia seed crackers, breadsticks and coconut milk baked Pani Popos buns can’t ever be taken of the menu again either.

Isobel Olives

I am back from a week in the Wairarapa where I attended the Olives NZ field day and then the Conference and awards dinner in Wellington.

Being consistent over the last 3 years I added another silver medal (my fifth) for my 2020 oil.

This is a robust/intense oil high in polyphenols. These polyphenols provide the health benefits associated with extra virgin olive oil. The robust oil is well balanced with a peppery finish and is ideal for dipping, marinades and dressings but can be used for all purposes.

Come and try the robust oil and the other two oils, koroneiki, a single variety delicious delicate Greek oil or the medium intensity oil, fit for all purposes. You can taste this difference qualities of these oils and I can offer suggestions for food matches. With Christmas looming this is a good time to buy these useful Christmas presents that will go well with salads and roasts.
