With the arrival of June, winter is officially here, but we are not moving into the sheep pens as yet.

We will continue to have our market outdoors for as long as we can. Looking at the 10-day forecast, Sunday will provide a break in the rain, meaning we can continue the spaced out market that customers have come to love.

River Gold Honey re-joins and will be next to Frut4U. Natural Microgreens move next to Craft Pate.

Spudz n Greens and Snailhouse bakery return to their usual positions.

Find out what else is in store this Sunday below.

See you Sunday, rain or shine, from 9 til noon at A&P Showgrounds.

Updates from our stall holders

Pedros Empanadas

Pedro will have the selection of empanadas this Sunday, nice and hot for the cold weather.

Traditional Country Preserves

We are getting repeat orders for our new Blackcurrant juice concentrate that you can drink hot at this time of the year. It is low in sugar as undiluted it is 22% sugar but diluted with hot water by at least 1 part Blackcurrant to 5 parts hot water it is only 3.5% sugar plus lots of natural blackcurrant goodness. Alice’s honey was also popular.

I enjoy a teaspoon full in a mug of warm water. It seems to help my hay fever. Garlic sauce is also moving well to flavour your winter casseroles or stews or add to marinades. Try a little drizzled on avocado or a steak or add to gravies and pasta dishes. I had my largest sale ever of Russian fudge on Sunday. Margaret

FRUT4U Lowes Orchard

Our special last week was very popular so we have decided to run it again this week!

  • When purchasing 5 kg of any one variety of apple at the stall, you’ll pay only $2/kg!
  • Blended Apple Juice $1 off per bladder.  This Sunday only!

Thank you all so very much for the support of our stall at the market. We hope you are enjoying all the delicious winter produce. Andrew & Sue

Natural Microgreens

This week’s Natural Microgreen blend will include a bit of zingy rocket or coriander micros. Coriander is very uplifting, and Rocket is excellent salad spiker with its distinctive slightly bitter tangy taste. Ideal for the work sandwiches and wraps.

Also NEW: Introducing nettle, a left field herb. The flavor is something akin to spinach, but even better. You can put the leaves on pizza, but the most classic way to serve nettle is in nettle soup, made with potatoes, stock, maybe a leek, and a little cream. Luxurious and vibrant green, I couldn’t agree more with Simply Recipes, this soup is a bowl-licker. Sigrun

River Gold

Welcome back Anna from River Gold Raw Honey with a sweet array of high-country flavours; from delicate Clover, to butterscotch like Blue Borage and fulsome Bush and Manuka. Come and stock up your winter reserves ready to warm your cockles this winter.

Delicia

Despite the cold temperatures last week, our hand made gelato and waffles were very popular. We will be back with more on Sunday.

Long Acre Farm

Check out the fresh cuts this week. Scotch filet steak is our special this week, in the kitchen we will be offering porridge with toppings,  gluten free and full of goodness.

Snail House Bakery

All the favourites will be there. The German rye sourdough has been especially popular lately. So I’ll make plenty. A good bread to keep you warm in winter. Apple strudel with Stürmer Apples from my market neighbours Fruit4U . Linzer tart with hazelnuts from nut ranch, eggs from Koromiko Free Range Eggs. Country loaves with freshly milled organic purple wheat and rye, Sprouted superseed bread, chia seed crackers and of course the best cinnamon snails in town!
Thank you, Annette
