With chilly winter days a thought goes out to all the winter pruners, stallholders tilling the soil, harvesting and pruning in the wintry temperatures. A thought also goes out to the Canterbury farmers this week.
We mentioned four of our outstanding producers in the last newsletter. Our fifth award winning Oustanding Producer stall holder is Pinoli Pine Nuts. The team won Gold in the Earth category at the 2021 Outstanding Food Producer awards for the 3rd year in a row. During the autumn / winter seasons their delicious nuts are for sale from the Information stall (next to the eftpos). Pinoli Pine Nuts also won the Marlborough Cawthron Environment Business Innovation Award and you can see the secrets to their success at the field day organised by the Environment awards team on June 29. More details below.
It’s Gourmet-delis last Sunday until the first week of October. Margaret has delicious fare to keep you warm though.

With the cold and frosty days of Winter here, now is the time to protect ourselves against the ills and chills that come with the season. What better way than with our own NZ Mandarins. Dried with the skins on to add more vitamins, especially vitamin C, they are not only beneficial, healthwise but are also a sweet and tasty snack.
See you Sunday, Rain or Shine. Alys

As a Cawthron Marlborough Environmental Awards winner, we are opening our gates to the public on Tuesday June 29th from 1-3:30pm. We would like to extend this invite to any enthusiastic pine nut fans from the Farmers’ Market who may be interested to see what we do up the Wairau. It’s one thing explaining the process on the stall but seeing it in person is pretty cool.
Bookings essential. Please book with email@example.com by June 25.
Cheers – Zoe

SharpAs Tool Tips
I recently received an expensive knife that broke while trying to cut up a pumpkin. All is not lost when this happens. On this knife I will reform it to the outline made on the blade, and it will become a very useful general purpose knife. If you have any tools that need sharpening reshaping bring them along to the Farmers’ Market or contact 0274445535 to discuss.
mā te wā.
